Is Brock Lesnar Going To Defend The WWE Universal Title At The Royal Rumble?

On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer indicated that Brock Lesnar may not defend the WWE Universal Title at the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble PPV. Brock is scheduled to appear on the show, but after last night’s episode of RAW it appears that they may not have a suitable opponent lined up to face Lesnar.

Meltzer broke down the current storylines to explain the title situation, and they are as follows:

– Judging by the way that Braun Strowman has been booked as of last night it looks as though he will not be facing Brock at the Royal Rumble.

– Roman Reigns isn’t a possibility for The Royal Rumble because he is still penciled in to face Lesnar at Wrestlemania. As of today they have no plans on changing that.

– Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose are out of the picture because they are still in the Tag Title picture.

– Bray Wyatt isn’t an option because Meltzer says that would be a “complete waste”.

As has been previously reported, Vince McMahon doesn’t feel that Finn Balor is over enough to be a suitable challenger for the Universal Title. With the majority of the RAW Roster being involved in storylines that will carry over into The Royal Rumble, there isn’t much left for Brock. It will be interesting to see what direction they choose to go as far as an opponent for Lesnar.
