WWE’s Potential Plans For The New Women’s Tag Team Championships

The newly introduced WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships were highly anticipated and rumored to have been on the way for over a year. Vince McMahon officially announced on the Christmas Eve episode of RAW that the reintroduction of the titles are coming in 2019.

The Titles Belts were finally revealed on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW on Alexa Bliss’ new segment “A Moment of Bliss”. She also announced that the champion will be decided in February at The Elimination Chamber PPV in an Elimination Chamber Match.

With there only being one set of Women’s Tag Titles introduced and two brands of Superstars to compete for them, simple math states that one of the two brands is going to be left without.

In the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer mentions that WWE only revealing one set of Women’s Tag Team Titles on this week’s episode of RAW could be a telling sign. Meltzer goes on to state that RAW is still seen by WWE as being the company’s A-Show. He adds that because of this the possible winner of the new titles would be between the teams of “The Boss n Hug Connection”, Nia Jax & Tamina Snuka, and “The Riott Squad”, as they are most likely the entrants from RAW which is the brand that is heavily favored to end up with the belts.

There have been rumors and reports that Sasha Banks & Bayley – The Boss n Hug Connection, are said to be the plan for who will become the first champions to hold the newly re-introduced titles. It’s also been speculated that this could be the starting point for their big rumored WrestleMania match that the company has been teasing for some time now.
