The Reason For Vince McMahon Not Caring Much For Christian In WWE

Christian’s initial run in WWE was successful due to him teaming up with Edge. But his singles run just wasn’t memorable. He would leave WWE in 2005 and join TNA. He had a much better singles run there, even winning the NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

On Something To Wrestle With, Bruce Prichard discussed the reason for Vince McMahon not caring so much for Christian in the company. This is what he said:

“[Vince] didn’t feel that [Christian] had the personality to connect with the audience in a big way. He didn’t think he was larger than life and at that time Vince wanted the top guys needed to be larger than life. You needed to be The Rock, needed to be Stone Cold, you needed to be Undertaker.”

Christian didn’t get the singles push that he was due, and it was obvious that Vince’s opinion of him didn’t change. Every time his name was brought up, McMahon gave an unfavorable reaction.

“Every time you would come up with an idea for Edge or Christian it would be like okay, there is a lot of excitement there with Edge. ‘Oh by god, we could do this with him. We could do this with him, a big good-looking bastard and then we’d get to Christian and it would just be, ‘Ugh, godd*mn, do we have to shoot him? Do we have to see that face? The f*ck’s he gonna say?!’ Vince felt Edge was the star of the team and while Christian had the tools, best damn worker on the card, and he would always say that and loved him personally. Just didn’t think that personality transcended and got to the audience.”

Vince was clearly more on Edge’s side than Christian, and it wasn’t merely because of their height difference. Christian had refused to do the Un-American angle, which Vince didn’t like since he wanted that angle to push Christian.

Edge is a Hall of Famer and Christian is not. We hope eventually, Christian gets a place in the Hall of Fame, which he rightfully deserves.
