NXT UK Recap: Episode 07(11/14/18 hour 1)

  • Show starts with the women, Triple H, and Johnny Saint out at the ramp to announce the first UK Women’s title tournament. Should be good and we have plenty of matches coming up. Also that belt is freaking gorgeous, might be my favorite belt in the company right now

Match One: Sid Scala vs Jordan Devlin

  • Oh god, I feel bad for Scala. He hasn’t won yet and I doubt this will be his first.
  • Devlin starts strong, Scala tries to mount an offense, but nope. Standing moonsault from Devlin.
  • Devlin really just beating down Scala, it’s not pretty
  • Scala hits a decent kick out of the corner but gets caught with a cutter
  • Scala hits a neckbreaker, the crowd is really behind the underdog
  • Devlin dropkicks Scala out of midair, hits a slam, and that’s the match folks

Winner: Jordan Devlin

  • Devlin gets interviewed in the ring and Jordan knows he is the Irish Ace
  • Devlin insults Ligero and actually gets some laughs from the crowd, setting up a feud?
  • We get a flashback to the first episode of NXT UK and Mustache Mountain’s challenge for everyone to buddy up so they can have the best opposition
  • Promo announcing Tyson T-Bone
  • Tyson will debut next week, but now we have a tag team match and my darling Kenny Williams is out first to the ring, teaming with Amir Jordan

Match Two: Kenny Williams and Amir Jordan vs Saxon Huxley and Joseph Conners

  • Welcome to NXT UK Mr. Conners, big fan of him from WCPW where he was champion and in the final four of the WCPW Pro Wrestling World Cup(much better than THAT world cup)
  • Good chain wrestling to start with Jordan and Huxley, Williams in and hits a leg drop
  • Conners getting a bit heelish, definitely seems we’re establishing our filler teams for the inevitable tag tournament
  • Jordan and Williams are doing great together, Huxley is relying a lot on Conners interfering. Williams and Jordan are just fun as a team
  • Williams a beautiful springboard back elbow followed by that cannonball dropkick that I love so much
  • Conners finally in the match and now you get to see why this man held the same belt as Drew McIntyre
  • Conners gets the win after being in for about 20 seconds and that’s that

Winners: Joseph Conners and Saxon Huxley

  • Tyler Bate takes on James Drake next

Progress Report: Bate and Drake know each other very well as they have fought in tag matches several time alongside Seven and Gibson respectively.

  • We know our eight women, Xia Brookside, Jinny, Dakota Kai, Rhea Ripley, Nina Samuels, Millie McKenzie, Isla Dawn, and Toni Storm, and the tournament starts next episode
  • Trent Seven talks about Zack Gibson backstage, he did well at first but his confidence has gone down and Gibson can’t beat Seven.
  • Next week we’ll get that match between Trent Seven and Zack Gibson, but now their tag partners have some work to do

Match Three: Tyler Bate vs James Drake

  • Big Strong Boi chants for Tyler Bate before Drake even hits the ring
  • Tyler Bate takes the lead earlier on, but like I said, these two know each so well, just enjoy the flow of this match
  • Tyler ends up out of the ring but Drake gets him back inside and locks on a submission
  • Some big uppercuts from Bate,  but then a massive dropkick from Drake
  • Good spinning elbow off the middle turnbuckle from Bate then his running elbow in the corner and standing shooting star press
  • Mini progress report from the commentary team mentioning the Tyler Bate Kassius Ohno match from this year’s Super Strong Style 16
  • Bate hits the Tyler Driver 97 and that’s it

Winner: Tyler Bate

Match Four: Ashton Smith vs Wolfgang

  • It’s main event time and of course Wolfgang is flanked by the Coffey brothers
  • They still don’t have a name so the Scottish lads remains as my name for them
  • Wolfgang starts strong and punches Smith into the corner but Smith hits a dropkick
  • Interesting overhand chop off the ropes from Smith but wolfgang counters his next midrope move with a gutbuster
  • Wolfgang with a big knee to the gut, wearing down Smith
  • Wolfgang locks in a bearhug that takes Smith a while to get out of but then finally Smith gets some good offense in
  • Smith sidesteps a big move from Wolfgang so Wolfgang eats the turnbuckle and Smith hits a crossbody
  • Wolfgang slams Smith and puts him away 1-2-3

Winner: Wolfgang
