According to a report from Tokyo Sports as translated by Chris Charlton, NJPW’s Top Star Tetsuya Naito was apparently offered a WWE contract following the company’s Dominion event back in June of this year.
Naito rejected WWE’s offer, choosing to stay with NJPW saying that he didn’t give it a thought. Naito went on to say that the New Japan ring is already the number 1 stage in the world and that the fans know this as well. He added that he feels the company should focus on their home crowd before they look international.
Regarding WWE’s offer earlier this year, Tetsuya Naito said:
“I didn’t even give it thought. This New Japan ring is already the world’s number 1 stage. The fans know this. That’s why I think we should focus on our home crowd before looking international.”
