What WWE Has In Store For Drew McIntyre’s Future

With Roman Reigns out due to his battle with leukaemia, some very big boots have to be filled and it is unsure as to who will be fit for the job. Vince has been pushing Roman to where he is for 4 years after all. But a likely candidate for that role might just be Drew McIntyre.

Dave Meltzer discussed this on the latest audio update of Wrestling Observer. This is what he said:

“Drew’s longterm is going to be as a babyface. I think that’s pretty clear. The interesting thing is Roman had a position, he was the face of the company and they have to have a face of the company. It’s really interesting because you know they have such a limited viewpoint on who can be the face of the company. AJ Styles is too old, you know there’s always something with somebody. Roman ticks all the boxes, Drew McIntyre ticks all the boxes. I mean it could be him.”

“Strowman’s kind of one-dimensional. I don’t know, he can be the stop-gap guy. I don’t see him as the long term, but perhaps they will be. He’s the most popular guy right now and he’s a babyface.”

He also discussed Drew’s abilities and what makes him the next pick for WWE’s top guy. This is what he had to say:

“But as far as being the face of the company, McIntyre is a guy I could see because he’s got good size, he’s got the good body, he’s a good-looking guy, he wrestles really well, he talks good. So that’s the kind of boxes they want punched so I think he could, but that’s not going to be right away. I think he was being groomed for sometime down where he’s doing his Shawn Michaels/Diesel thing with Ziggler and he’ll be Diesel and hopefully, he’ll fare better than Diesel did in that same position.”

While it is still unclear whether Vince will truly groom Drew to be the next face of the company, there is definitely a chance.
