Smackdown Live Recap For October 23rd, 2018

(Segment 1) New Day Kicks Off Smackdown Live: In this opening segment WWE announced The Big Bar will face The New Day at Crown Jewel for the Smackdown Live Tag Titles. The Big Bar ended up coming out and taking out New Day.

(Segment 2) Usos vs AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan: AJ and DB were looking for revenge after the Usos beat them the week before after miscommunication between them. These two teams do not have chemistry together but they can really perform in the ring and put on good matches no matter what. The Usos win again after miscommunication from the champ and the challenger. Overall it was a good match to start the night’s action.

(Segment 3) Aiden English vs Rusev: This is a feud we knew we would be getting for awhile, but it is weird the first time they face each other will be on Smackdown Live. I do think these two can put on a good show/feud if given thought and effort. Rusev will obviously win this feud and become a bigger star. Rusev won this match by making Aiden tap out, this was a very short match. This means we will be getting more from these two or they just wanted to end this feud.

(Segment 4) Miz TV With Rey Mysterio: Miz TV usually ends with controversy and sometimes gets physical, that is what we got here again. This Miz and Rey feud should be very good in the ring and on the microphone because how good they are. Both of these men are great veterans and can always entertain the fans. Rey wanted to fight but Miz took a cheap shot at him. Rey fought back and Miz ran out of the ring. Paige then turned this into a match for right now.

(Segment 5) Miz vs Rey Mysterio: This match is worthy of being on a PPV but it is on Smackdown Live. This episode has a PPV feel to it because of all these good matches. These two work very good together because of their experience. Rey got a win over Miz and will look build more momentum into his WWE return. We will see more of these two against each other in the future.

(Segment 6) Naomi and Asuka vs Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose: This was originally Rose vs Naomi but got turned into a tag match, either way I did not expect this to produce well. This match never got started because every single women from the locker room came out and starting brawling for no reason at all in the ring. This was to promote the battle royal at Evolution, but it was just random and not needed. Asuka stood tall as all the women were thrown over the top rope.

(Segment 7) Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton: This match capped an action packed Smackdown Live. This night had a good feel and had good action. It is kind of boring to see these two fight again but it is still a pretty good main event to cap off a good night. Randy took the win by hitting the good ole RKO.

Overall Smackdown Live Grade: B+
