Indy Wrestler Shares Inspirational Story About Roman Reigns Helping Him Early In His Career

Last night Roman Reigns gave a shocking promo to open RAW where he revealed that due to a recurrence of the disease Leukemia which he was diagnosed with 11 years ago, that he was relinquishing the WWE Universal Title because he would no longer be able to fulfill his obligations as Champion.

As we have been reporting the outpour of support Roman Reigns has received from the wrestling world is overwhelming. Many have expressed their support and well wishes, and others have even added heart-warming stories of Roman Reigns and how he has impacted their lives.

One of these stories comes from an independent wrestler named Connor Braxton. Braxton is also the first graduate of Seth Rollins’ wrestling school the “Black and Brave Wrestling Academy.” Braxton shared a story about Roman Reigns that really shows what type of person he is, as he helped Braxton out as he was trying to achieve his dream of becoming a professional wrestler.

Braxton reveals that he had asked his trainer, Seth Rollins where he could get a pair of wrestling boots, explaining that he had little to no money and that he was frantically training and trying to live his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. He goes on to say that Rollins spoke with Roman Reigns, who said he was willing to sell Braxton a pair of his old wrestling boots.

However, he goes on to reveal that Roman then asked Seth if his friend Connor Braxton was a “good brother” and that Rollins told Reigns all about his friend Braxton, and that Roman then decided to give his old boots to Connor for free. Roman only asked in return that Connor continue his example and trend and giving something back to the next generation coming up and make the business a better place.

Regarding his story about Roman Reigns giving him his old wrestling boots, Braxton said:

“A little-known fact… after I finished training at The Black and Brave Wrestling Academy, I was without a pair of wrestling boots to use. With my first match a few days away, and zero dollars to my name, I was frantically looking around for a pair of boots.

I exhausted all my contacts in search of finding a pair, and asked Seth if he knew anyone looking to sell some. He told me Roman Reigns had a pair that he would be willing to sell me. I was ecstatic, but also very poor…

I asked how much he was looking to get for the pair, and he said he would ask Roman and see. Almost immediately, he responded and said, “Roman asked if you were a good brother, and said you can just have them. He said just make sure you pass on the favor to someone else for the good of the wrestling business.”

Roman, you have no idea who I am. You went out of your way to help an aspiring professional wrestler have a chance. You are the goodest of brothers. The wrestling business is a much better place because of you. Thank you.”
