Is Austin Aries Finished With IMPACT Wrestling Following Bound For Glory Incident?

As we saw Sunday night at IMPACT Wrestling’s Bound For Glory PPV from the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York, Austin Aries dropped his World Championship to Johnny Impact in the main event.

The match itself was barred with controversy before it started, as their feud quickly became personal. Aries made some very controversial comments on Twitter about Johnny Impact and his wife Taya Valkyrie. Johnny Impact called Aries short and Austin responded by calling Taya husky. The couple then responded in an interview with TMZ. Next, during the Bound For Glory Hall of Fame Ceremony on Saturday night, there was also a press conference for the World Championship Main Event match which erupted in a brawl.

During the match many noted how stiff the two were with each other, often times looking like a shoot wrestling match even broke out. However, during the conclusion of the match Aries appeared to no-sell Johnny Impact’s finisher, soon as the 3-count was over Aries leaps to his feet and was visibly angry. Aries then began yelling up at the balcony, which apparently was where Don Callis and management were located. Aries then spit into the ring towards Johnny Impact, and exited the arena while giving both middle fingers to everyone in the crowd. Aries stopped at the top of the stage and again had words directed towards the balcony before flipping more birds then leaving.

It was also noted how Killer Kross and Moose who were at ringside were never used in any spots during the match, and after Aries tyrade and exit that Kross visibly looked confused as he wandered around seemingly lost. Kross and Moose eventually left together well after Aries had stormed off, while Johnny Impact and Taya celebrated in the ring.

You can see video of the finish of the match, and you can see Aries storm off and yell at Don Callis in the balcony below.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that Austin Aries went home immediately following Sunday’s Bound For Glory PPV. That means that Aries is apparently not present for the television tapings scheduled for this afternoon. This could indicate that Aries will not be featured or factored into anything creatively going forward.

Apparently during the brawl between the two on Saturday during the Hall of Fame Ceremony, there was an investor who was knocked over during the skirmish. Alvarez reported over the weekend that there could possible be some fallout from this situation this week. It was even mentioned that there could be some type of punishment being handed down from management as a result of all the backstage heat.

It appears as though after everything that went down, that Aries has walked out following the finish to his match at Bound for Glory. However, this is wrestling so it could always be a work, or what is sometimes referred to as a “worked shoot”.
