WWE Officials Disappointed Over Trish Stratus’ Evolution Match Announcement

WWE recently announced their first-ever all women’s PPV titled, Evolution. Evolution is set to take place on October 28th, from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY.

The first match for the Evolution pay-per-view was announced over the weekend. The announcement came after an image leaked Saturday which showed the NXT TakeOver Pre-Show Panel with a production computer screen in the foreground with the Evolution match graphic featuring Alexa Bliss and Trish Stratus. Interestingly enough, the original leaked image showed Alexa Bliss without her RAW Women’s Title, indicating that she would drop the belt the following night to Ronda Rousey. Hours later following the conclusion of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, WWE made the official announcement that Trish Stratus would be facing Alexa Bliss at Evolution. Although, this time a new graphic had been made showing Bliss with the RAW Women’s Title to avoid spoiling the SummerSlam match outcome.

The match announcement was discussed on the latest episode of Barn Burner’s No Holds Barred podcast. During the segment our friend Brad Shepard revealed that some WWE Officials were really disappointed with how the news of Trish’s match broke.

Brad reported that apparently some Officials felt that the match announcement regarding Trish Stratus’ in-ring return with the company came off very weak, and that it failed to make the impact they felt it needed to.

Regarding Trish’s match announcement at Evolution, Brad said:

“Interestingly enough, Joe, I was talking with a source in WWE this week and they were mentioning how a lot of people internally within the company were not happy with how WWE broke the news that Trish Stratus would be returning in a match against Alexa Bliss at Evolution.

And the feedback was that you’ve got one of the greatest of all time female wrestler in the WWE, a Hall of Famer, coming out of retirement after years [and] she was one of the hottest acts in her prime and they should have made this a big deal, they should have let this play out. Instead, it was just kinda dropped like it was no big deal. That has some people upset in the company.”
