Don’t Expect To See Finn Balor In Line For A Universal Title Push Any Time Soon

We saw new WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defend his title in the main event of last night’s RAW against Finn Balor. This was Finn’s first Universal Title shot since having to relinquish the title due to injury after becoming the first-ever Universal champion. Finn’s reign as Champion lasted less than 24 hours, and was never granted a rematch or another shot at the belt at all until last night.

Balor was a topic of discussion on today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Live. Co-host Bryan Alvarez noted that awhile back it was Vince McMahon who put the brakes on Finn’s push during his program with Kane, which resulted in a whole issue and running joke about Finn being over following something he had said on social media.

Regarding Finn Balor, Bryan Alvarez said:

“Dave on Observer Radio noted that Vince doesn’t think he’s over enough for a singles match against Brock at Royal Rumble which by the way he didn’t get. So they like Finn Balor, he’s great but I don’t think there’s much of a chance of Finn Balor becoming Universal Champion anytime soon.”

Even though we didn’t see Finn Balor buried and placed into a squash situation against Roman Reigns last night, despite his incredible performance in the match, don’t expect to see him in the Universal Title hunt any time soon.
