Finish For Tonight’s SummerSlam Main Event Still Up In The Air

It was reported last night by Joseph Peisich via Barn Burner‘s No Hold’s Barred podcast that Vince McMahon has three very important meetings scheduled for today prior to tonight’s SummerSlam PPV. One of those meetings is with Brock Lesnar.

It was also noted by our friend Brad Shepard that the finish of the Main Event for the WWE Universal Title is still up in the air. Without the outcome of the match decided at this point, it would seem that the company is in a similar situation to the one they were in leading up to the bell for WrestleMania 34.

Currently the odds still favor Roman Reigns to win the Universal Title at SummerSlam, but not by much. However, the betting odds are probably so close due to the uncertainty of Brock Lesnar’s WWE future, and how that plays into WWE’s creative plans.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the beliefis that Lesnar will be leaving for the UFC due to his upcoming big money fight against UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. However, Vince is said to be willing to match whatever UFC payday Brock is offered, so he could always sign another short term deal today like the one he signed back in April.

So, it looks like the finish for the main event WWE Universal Championship Match tonight at SummerSlam as well as the company’s creative plans going forward all hinge on the outcome of Vince McMahon’s meeting today with Brock Lesnar.

We will keep you updated if we hear anything further regarding the meeting or finish for the match tonight.
