Reason WWE Decided To Not Bring Paul Ellering Up To Main Roster With The Authors Of Pain

The Authors of Pain recently made their WWE main roster debut, although apparently dropped their manager Paul Ellering in the process.

Mike Johnson revealed in a recent audio update via PWInsider Elite when discussing the recent NXT call-ups to the main roster that the reason WWE made the decision to have the Authors of Pain drop Paul Ellering as their manager was simply a creative choice, and had nothing to do with travel issues which had previously been rumored. Ellering shot down those reports himself, but Johnson expanded on the situation and shed more light on the reason the decision was made.

Regarding The Authors of Pain being called up and Paul Ellering not, Mike Johnson said:

“As far as the AOP/Ellering thing, why did they do that? It basically was that they wanted Authors of Pain on their own and it was a creative choice by people on the main roster. they want Paul Ellering down in NXT working with others to prepare them and groom them. It’s that simple. It had nothing to do with Ellering not wanting to go on the road. He would have done anything that WWE wanted. He was just someone that they didn’t want to be with Authors of Pain at this juncture.”
