Huge Name Was Also Considered For Ronda Rousey’s Tag Team Partner At WrestleMania

In the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that former WWE Superstar Batista had been telling people that he was in talks with WWE for a return to the company to be Ronda Rousey’s partner at WrestleMania 34.

WWE had originally hoped to secure The Rock for the role of Ronda Rousey’s partner in the mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 34 due to his past involvement with Rousey at ‘Mania, as well as his mainstream stardom. However, when it became clear that they would not be able to work out a deal that would see him be able to compete on the show, the company decided to go a different direction and eventually landed on Kurt Angle.

Batista would have been another solid choice for a backup plan as Rousey’s partner, he has a strong history in place already storyline wise with Triple H, and his movie career is doing quite well and has become a star outside of WWE.

It remains to be seen if there is any further interest in Batista from WWE regarding a return to the company, since they ultimately decided to go in another direction having placed Kurt Angle into the match instead.
