Vince McMahon Expected The Ultimate Deletion Match To Bomb

Apparently Vince McMahon expected that Matt Hardy’s “Ultimate Deletion Match” would bomb, despite it being booked to air as the Main Event of this week’s episode of RAW.

WrestleZone‘s Nick Hausman is reporting that it was believed backstage that Vince McMahon had concerns about how the match would deliver and be received by the WWE audience. The feeling was that a lot of casual WWE fans do not watch TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, and had no prior experience with the matches they ran in IMPACT. Such was why the program wasn’t pushed very hard on television.

However, Officials within WWE are considering the match to be a great success. The Ultimate Deletion Match held over three million viewers from the final hour of RAW, and was the #1 trending topic worldwide on Twitter for over three hours.

Reportedly it was said to be a “struggle” to get the match onto WWE TV, but the belief now is that after the huge success of the match that the door is open for similar content to be produced.
