More On Possibility Of WWE Moving To FOX & RAW Returning To 2 Hour Format

As has been previously reported, if FOX makes a bid and secures the rights to WWE Programming after their contract with USA Network/NBC Universal expires, there is a very good possibility that RAW will go back to a 2 hour format.

WWE Spokeswoman, Annie Kruger declined to comment when The Sporting News when asked about WWE & FOX and the USA Network. However, she did reveal that WWE plans to announce their US Television partner sometime between May and September of this year.

UFC’s deal with FOX is set to expire on December 31st of this year, and WWE’s current deal with USA Network/NBC Universal officially expires on September 30, 2019.

“[Fox] is definitely trying to get [the WWE]. They’ll pass on UFC, then use ‘Raw’ for [Fox Broadcasting] and FS1 content,”

It’s being reported that both WWE and the UFC are looking to get around $400 million a year for the rights to their television programming. However FOX is more likely to be willing to fork over that kind of money for the rights to WWE’s programming than for UFC’s says sources. Currently FOX is paying around $120 million a year for UFC’s TV rights.

Speculation has already began to circulate regarding what will happen to RAW if WWE moves to FOX. Right now the belief is that RAW will return to a 2 hour format if FOX secures the rights to WWE TV programming. Bryan Alvarez recently discussed on an installment of Wrestling Observer Live that the only reason RAW is 3 hours long is because the USA Network pushed for it and offered more money in return for the extra hour. So, in theory more money for a smaller amount of television hours on a network that can reach more households would be an ideal situation for WWE.
