Former WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio To Debut At IMPACT Wrestling Tapings?

On yesterday’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, during their mailbag segment Dave Meltzer was asked about a PWElite report from Mike Johnson stating that IMPACT Wrestling is attempting to sign former WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio to the company and have him debut at their TV tapings that start tomorrow, January 10th from Universal Studios in Orlando.

Meltzer did confirm that talks between IMPACT Wrestling and Rey Mysterio are still ongoing and the two have yet to agree to terms. Meltzer added that the last he had heard was that Mysterio probably will not be brought in for the tapings. He added that the company is trying really hard however to get a deal in place before tomorrow’s tapings, but as of a couple of days ago the two were still not able to come to an agreement.

Rey Mysterio was interviewed by ESPN back in December, where he made it clear that he’s not currently signed to any deal with any promotion. Mysterio said, “I’m not locked up to any company,” Mysterio said. “I’m an independent contractor, as we say. I could go work wherever I want. That’s the beautiful thing about being on this side of the fence. You don’t have a commitment with only one company. You can go around and pretty much wrestle wherever you want. You can choose when you want your off-days to be. That was one of my main priorities when I left WWE.”

We will keep you posted if any further details become known about Rey Mysterio and IMPACT Wrestling’s contract talks.
