GLOW’s Emily “Mt. Fiji” Dole Passes Away At The Age Of 60

Emily Dole, who is best known as playing Mr. Fiji on the original Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW) promotion in the 80’s, passed away yesterday at the age of 60. The announcement came via twitter from Patricia Summerland, who also was a member of GLOW, as she portrayed “Sunny The California Girl”.

Dole graduated from Buena Park High School in 1975, where she held the record for furthest shot put throw (over 50 ft.) that has only been achieved by two other High School girls in the state of California. Dole also qualified for two US Olympic Trials, finishing 5th in 1976 and 7th in 1980.

Dole is best remembered for her time on GLOW engaging in classic feuds with Matilda The Hun and Big Bad Mama. Dole made her last on-screen appearance when she was interviewed and featured in the 2012 documentary titled, “GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling” which is currently available to view on Netflix.
